Behestan is the project involves renovating a House with 255 square meters of duplex space and a mezzanine in the Lavasanat area. Challenges include the duplex structure, an unconventional staircase, and the 1.80-meter height of the mezzanine ceiling.
Therefore, initially, we had to reconstruct the ceiling to a suitable height and redesign the staircase in a specific space. Inspired by the owner's aviation profession, the staircase was designed with exposed materials resembling airplane steps.
Other challenges included imbalance in the layout and axes of communication between spaces, leading to the relocation of the kitchen and TV room and the creation of a breakfast area.
Considering the client's interest in Iranian art, the use of non-flammable bricks and Iranian tiles was prioritized.
The approach in this project aimed to stay true to the German designer's vision and the original builder of the structure while preserving the previous identity of the house throughout the renovation process. Therefore, the inclines of the building were left unchanged, and even the same slopes and angles were used in reconstructing the ceilings. Similarly, the preservation of the openings was carried out accordingly.
